Yahoo! Launches New Job Search Engine on HotJobs.com
Yahoo! HotJobs Uses the Power, Scale and Accuracy of Yahoo! Search to Crawl the Web and Provide More Job Opportunities for Job Seekers
NEW YORK, July 12, 2005 – Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) today announced the launch of a new job search engine that enables job seekers to find jobs from across the Internet at www.hotjobs.com. In addition to providing advertised job listings on the Yahoo! HotJobs site, the company will now also employ its leading search technology to crawl the Internet, offering job seekers listings from other employer and job-related Web sites.
“Job seekers now have one place to find quality jobs from across the Web,” said Dan Finnigan, Yahoo! senior vice president and Yahoo! HotJobs general manager. “The new job search engine will give our recruitment customers a distinct advantage in today’s competitive war for talent. We have found that more jobs increase the number of job seekers, and when combined with Yahoo!’s industry-leading search technology, lead to more qualified candidates for our customers”.
The new job search engine was developed to provide the most comprehensive job search experience online. Yahoo! is currently testing implementations of the new product to ensure optimal results for both job seekers and recruiters. Yahoo! HotJobs now offers job seekers both paid and crawled job listings in addition to career management tools such as resume, networking and interview advice, salary calculators, and background checks.
“Applying our search technology in the job and recruitment marketplace proves again Yahoo!’s ability – and opportunity — to extend our search leadership into new and growing verticals,” said Phu Hoang, senior vice president of engineering for Yahoo! Inc. “In transforming HotJobs, we have not only leveraged existing technology, but have also developed new patent-pending innovations that we will continue to invest in and incorporate into other Yahoo! properties”.
This launch is a significant step in a plan to bring Yahoo!’s evolving technologies in search, match, personalization and targeting to the recruitment market. Today, Yahoo! HotJobs utilizes these technologies to offer recruiters the most sophisticated targeting solutions, including premium placements, email marketing programs, and media products - solutions no other recruitment site offers.
